Artur Chakhoyan Charged with Hooliganism

Activist Artur Chakhoyan has been charged with hooliganism in a hospital. We learned about this from his Facebook page.

Later, lawyer Vahe Yepriyan wrote: “A public criminal prosecution has been instituted against Artur Chakhoyan under Article 297, Part 2, Points 1 and 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.”

The legal farce continues.

No individuals have been summoned for an obvious crime, no specific investigative or procedural actions have been taken against them, while the civil activist is accused of committing a public action.

The concerns I expressed earlier are, unfortunately, gradually being justified: an attempt is being made to conceal the actions of the obviously criminal mayor of Nor Nork and his accomplices, placing the blame, I repeat, on an innocent person who is pursuing a civil lawsuit, who in this story can have only one procedural status: the status of a victim.”

Let us recall that yesterday morning a fight took place in the building of the district administration. Employees of the district administration, with the participation of the head of the district, beat up activist Artur Chakhoyan. The police detained only Chakhoyan. The police reported that he was invited to the Nor Nork police station to file a statement.

Commenting on the incident, the Yerevan City Hall noted that violence in any form is unacceptable, and violence cannot be only physical.

After the incident, Artur Chakhoyan had a black eye and traces of bleeding.

Let us recall that yesterday Artur Chakhoyan and member of the Mother Armenia faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders Mesrop Manukyan held a protest action near the district administration building with obscene language and profanity. According to them, this was a response to the fact that the head of the district Tigran Ter-Margaryan used obscene language towards them over the phone.

Later, member of the Republic party Tigran Ter-Margaryan noted that he did the right thing by swearing.
