Iranian MFA: Tehran will resist Washington’s sanctions pressure

US sanctions against Iran are aimed at undermining relations between developing countries, Tehran will resist Washington’s economic pressure. This was stated by the official representative of the Islamic Republic’s Foreign Ministry Esmail Baghaei.

“The official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the new US sanctions against individuals and legal entities of Iran and a number of other states under the pretext of their cooperation with Iran in various economic spheres,” the diplomat was quoted as saying in a message published on the Telegram channel of the republic’s Foreign Ministry. He noted that the recent restrictive measures by the US indicate Washington’s desire “to undermine friendly and legitimate relations between developing countries through economic terrorism.”

The introduction of new sanctions against Iran, Baghaei emphasized, indicates “the contradictory approach of the American authorities, the lack of goodwill and seriousness in their desire for diplomacy.” He noted that the Iranian people will “resist the policy of intimidation and pressure, using all available means to continue the independent and dignified development of the country.”
