The Ombudsman has launched an investigation into the search of Gegham Manukyan’s apartment and the arrest of his son. This is stated in the Ombudsman’s statement.

“Based on the information provided to the Human Rights Defender’s office in connection with the search of the apartment of National Assembly member Gegham Manukyan and the seizure of his mobile phone, an investigation has been launched at the request of the Human Rights Defender.

Later, the lawyers received information from the Human Rights Defender’s hotline that a group of people had been detained and taken to the Yerevan Investigation Department, including the deputy’s son Taron Manukyan, and that the lawyers had not been given access to the body conducting the case or to meet with the arrested clients.

In connection with the above, the Human Rights Defender sent a rapid response team to the Investigation Department.

This case is under the control of the Human Rights Defender. If necessary, the office will provide additional clarification.”
