Xi Jinping Calls Russia and China the Main Winners of World War II at Meeting with Putin

Xi Jinping called Russia and China the main winners of World War II at a meeting with Putin in Beijing, the BBC reports.

Putin said that “we were always together then and remain together now,” and that “our close communication reflects the strategic nature of Russian-Chinese relations, which are at a high level.”

Xi Jinping noted that “Chinese-Russian relations have stood the test of international changes,” and that Beijing will work with Moscow to “promote the construction of a more just and reasonable system of global governance.”

“We are participating in the celebration of each other’s victory in the World Anti-Fascist War. This has already become a good tradition in bilateral relations and convincingly demonstrates the great responsibility of China and Russia as the main victors in World War II and permanent members of the UN Security Council,” the Chinese leader said.
