The court’s verdict against Archbishop Mikhail will be announced on October 3 at 5:30 PM.

It should be noted that additional hearings were held in court today, September 29. Archbishop Mikhail’s defense filed a motion to recuse the judge hearing the case, Armine Meliksetyan.

The court denied the motion.

The prosecutor in the case filed a motion to sentence Archbishop Mikhail to two years and six months in prison.

As a reminder, on September 24, the court sentenced Archbishop Mikhail, finding him guilty under Article 422, Part 2 of the Criminal Code (public calls for the seizure of power, violation of territorial integrity, renunciation of sovereignty, and the violent overthrow of the constitutional order).

The preventive measure has been upheld with restrictions on his powers.

Today, during additional hearings, the court will discuss a number of issues with the parties, including aggravating and mitigating circumstances, and the type and amount of punishment.

It should be noted that Archbishop Mikhail is facing public criminal prosecution under Article 422, Part 2 of the Criminal Code (public calls for the seizure of power, violation of territorial integrity, renunciation of sovereignty, and the violent overthrow of the constitutional order).
