The President of Kyrgyzstan intends to reinstate the death penalty for serious crimes.

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has ordered the drafting of a bill introducing the death penalty for particularly serious crimes against children and women. This was announced by the presidential press secretary, Askat Alagozov, according to Ekonomist.kg.

The murder of an underage girl in the Issyk-Kul region was the reason.

“The case of the particularly brutal murder of Aisulu is under the personal supervision of President Sadyr Japarov,” Alagozov emphasized.

According to him, the head of the legal department of the presidential administration, Murat Ukushev, has been drafting legislative amendments providing for harsher penalties, including for the rape of children, as well as for the rape and murder of women.

Sadyr Japarov noted that such crimes should not go unpunished.

According to media reports, a resident of Karakol, born in 2008, went missing on September 27. Her body was found near the village of Zhel-Aryk. She had been raped and strangled. The suspect, a man born in 1984 with a previous conviction, was detained in Bishkek.
