Federal law enforcement agencies have failed to enforce the law in Oregon, turning the situation in the city into lawlessness. US President Donald Trump announced this on the social media platform TruthSocial.
The president noted that supporters of the radical left-wing social movement Antifa and radical left-wing anarchists are violently attacking federal law enforcement officers who “protect federal property and enforce federal immigration laws and the rule of law.”
According to Trump, “We will never allow mobs to occupy our streets, burn our cities, or destroy America.”
“The National Guard is already in place, called upon to restore law and order and end the chaos, death, and destruction. We are a country of law, and we will prevail. Thank you for your attention to this matter,” the president said.
Trump called the situation in Portland “an unending catastrophe,” adding that many people were seriously injured and even killed.
“Everything there is run like a Third World country. We only intervene because, as American patriots, we have no choice. Law and order must reign in our cities and everywhere,” the president added.
Mass protests against the disproportionate use of force by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are taking place in Portland, Oregon.
The protests are sparked by the Trump administration’s overly harsh stance on immigrants.
