Macron plans to appoint a new French prime minister within 48 hours.

French President Emmanuel Macron will appoint a new prime minister within 48 hours, the Elysée Palace announced on Wednesday, dismissing speculation about the possibility of new elections. This was reported by bbc.com.

Earlier, outgoing French Prime Minister Sébastien Le Cornouaille stated that the majority of members of the French parliament do not want early elections and are prepared to compromise that could lead to the appointment of a new head of government “within 48 hours.”

“There is a majority in parliament, and this majority is trying to avoid new elections,” he said.
