Serzh Sargsyan’s 30 million drams bail remains unchanged, and the travel restriction has been lifted.

The Anti-Corruption Court, chaired by Judge Givi Hovhannisyan, today, October 10, upheld the 30 million drams bail imposed on Serzh Sargsyan, the third president of the Republic of Armenia, and lifted the travel restriction. It should be noted that today’s hearing was held behind closed doors at the request of the defense. At the end of the hearing, defense attorney Amram Makinyan told reporters: “You know that four criminal cases are being investigated against the president, and different preventive measures have been applied in each case. Today, the court decided to uphold the preventive measure. A travel ban is a more serious charge for President Sargsyan than all the existing fabricated charges, as it is imposed because a person may abscond after crossing the border of the Republic of Armenia using an identity document. Is there anyone, an adult, of sound mind, who believes that the third president of the Republic has such an intention, desire, or goal? “This cannot be true; it’s out of the question,” Makinyan said. He recalled that Serzh Sargsyan, while accused in the “infamous diesel case,” left Armenia with the court’s permission and appeared in court on time. “So, talking about concealment is an assertion based on the presumption of insanity; it’s absurd. That’s why I said this is a very serious charge against us,” the defense attorney emphasized.
