It seems that the conflict in Artsakh is a conflict between him and the former leadership of the Republic of Armenia for the country’s most prominent “author”/”blogger.” This is what Azerbaijani scholar Tatev Hayrapetyan writes.

“The man who recently admitted that he rejects the possibility of preventing the war even theoretically, who once shouted, ‘Artsakh is Armenia, and that’s it,’ who, on May 8, 2018, after being elected prime minister, visited Artsakh for the first time and even declared, ‘Who said Artsakh isn’t a superpower?’… and who has made other similar statements, has now effectively become a ‘cleanser’ of the aggressive war, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement unleashed by Azerbaijan.”

He has no problem with Azerbaijan; he’s “not interested” that Azerbaijan has repeatedly rejected peaceful resolution options, that hatred against ethnic Armenians has been promoted at the state level for decades, that Azerbaijan’s 2022 attack on Jermuk was accompanied by the brutal amputation of an Armenian female soldier’s arm, and that Ramil Safarov is now receiving a pension for stabbing Gurgen Margaryan to death while he was sleeping. None of this matters, just as much as the fact that Azerbaijani schools today preach that Armenia is “historical Azerbaijan” that was “taken away” from them. These issues are unimportant; what matters is catching up with former leaders, concealing one’s own actions, and the ideological destruction of Armenian statehood at the behest of Azerbaijan. These are the government’s priorities, and they have no agenda related to Azerbaijan. After all, there’s “peace” now, but in reality, it’s vulnerability to future dangers.

“Just as during the Artsakh conflict, today the Azerbaijani leadership clearly and directly speaks about its dangerous occupation plans, but the main thing is to “come to terms” with the past… Then the destroyer of the state will not be concerned with issues of state defense,” he wrote.
