The Ukrainian issue, bilateral relations and the economic agenda may be discussed at the upcoming meeting of Russian and US Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Marco Rubio, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters.
“Of course, the focus is on the topic of a special military operation and the policy of supporting Ukraine by the Western bloc, which cannot satisfy us. There are also many issues on the bilateral agenda. I do not exclude issues related to the economic sphere. They also need attention,” Ryabkov was quoted as saying by Interfax.
The deputy minister stressed that it is now important for Moscow to convey to the Americans that the meeting in Alaska in August has established the framework within which “we must work.”
“We have no alternative here. “We must rely in all future efforts on what the presidents have defined and formulated. And the agenda can be artificially expanded at the expense of other, albeit important, but time-consuming topics, but how much this will help the main direction in the areas I mentioned is a question,” the deputy minister added.
In turn, RIA Novosti reports that Ryabkov also reported on the upcoming telephone conversation between Lavrov and Rubio.
