European Council President Antonio Costa assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the EU leaders will reaffirm their unwavering support for Ukraine and will be able to take a political decision on providing a compensation loan based on Russian real estate to meet its needs for 2026-2027.

First of all, despite the high expectations created by President Trump’s initiatives, it is clear today that, unfortunately, these initiatives do not correspond to the goodwill of President Putin, and Russia is intensifying its attacks, intensifying its attacks on civilians, civilian objects, and this means that we must continue to support your struggle for a just and lasting peace,” he said, addressing Zelensky on Thursday in Brussels, ahead of the start of the European Council meeting.
