As you already know, the Yerevan Criminal Court sentenced me the day before yesterday to 6 years and 3 months in prison. The court did not take into account the fact that there is no justification for the acts I am accused of in the criminal case. No fact, no testimony, no evidence, no other circumstance that could, even in the slightest way, substantiate my guilt. In the truest sense of the word, nothing. The head of the Masis community, impeachment candidate for prime minister, Davit Hambardzumyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“The decision to quickly imprison me in a fabricated case after 7.5 years indicates that the punishment applied against me is exclusively political. The criminal case initiated in connection with the incident that occurred 7.5 years ago has been dismissed with respect to all participants in that incident, and only I am considered by this government as the organizer, doing everything to ensure that I end up in prison.
In other words, there are no participants in the incident, but there is an organizer.
Dear compatriots, a few months ago, when I accepted the proposal of the parliamentary “I Have Honor” faction to nominate me for the post of Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, I realized that the authorities would do everything to neutralize that real danger that had arisen for them. When making the decision, I was ready for any kind of test, knowing full well that the struggle for the independence of the Motherland is not an easy path at all.
I, assuming that responsibility, will continue to do everything so that Armenia is freed from the traitorous authorities as soon as possible. Impeachment has been and continues to be the only option to get rid of Nikol as soon as possible. Therefore, I call on the opposition and all patriotic citizens to unite around this agenda and implement the process of expressing no confidence in the Prime Minister as soon as possible. I assure you that all the necessary conditions are in place for this. Our people also want this. Therefore, we must fight and achieve victory.
Dear compatriots, as you know, these days I am abroad on a working visit. My return ticket to Armenia is on October 28. Nothing has changed in my plans. I exclude even the thought of running away from Nikol and his servile judicial and legal system. I will be in Armenia soon and together we will fight for my freedom, the freedom of the Holy Fathers, other political prisoners and our entire country. By God,” he wrote.
It should be noted that Hambardzumyan was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison. Attorney Tigran Atanesyan reported that the court revoked the bail and applied detention as a preventive measure.
2018 On April 22, a group of people attacked and used violence against citizens holding a protest in Erebuni. The arrested mayor of Masis, Davit Hambardzumyan, deputy mayor Karen Ohanyan, and residents of Masis, Sargis Sahakyan, Gevorg Hambardzumyan, and Gor Khachatryan, were charged with this act. However, the court decided to impose a restraining order on Davit Hambardzumyan and Karen Ohanyan, and they were released.
