Not only has Serzh Sargsyan spoken of a maximalist approach to the negotiation process, but Davit Tonoyan, a key member of Pashinyan’s government during the war, hinted at this as a factor in the failure of the negotiation process and the outbreak of war. Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the “I Have the Honor” faction, wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“How is it that facts and witnesses point to the failure of the government’s foreign policy program, while Pashinyan vainly tries to convince people that his only mistake was not telling the ‘truth to society’?”
After all, if you couldn’t raise the bar, why did you deceive people? “You came with the banner of Artsakh’s self-determination, but then it turned out that, in reality, according to your understanding, Artsakh is Azerbaijan, and you are acting on this agenda. Your failures, in turn, led to the Azerbaijanization of Artsakh, the vulnerability of the Republic of Armenia, and the acquisition of a dominant position by Azerbaijan, the consequences of which society will have to bear for a long time,” he wrote.
