Germany will not recognize Palestinian statehood in the foreseeable future. Chancellor Merz stated this during a meeting with Netanyahu, noting the importance of a phased implementation of the peace plan.
Recall that Netanyahu stated the need to deradicalize Gaza, following Germany’s example.
“There is also a third stage: the deradicalization of Gaza, which many considered impossible. But it was done in Germany, it was done in Japan, and it is being done in the Gulf states.
It can be done in Gaza too,” the Israeli Prime Minister stated at a press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the political annexation of the West Bank remains a subject of discussion. He added that the status quo is expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future.
