The whole point of constitutional amendments in Azerbaijan-Armenia relations is that the ruler here wants to present it as his initiative, and Azerbaijan constantly reminds that it is being done at its request. Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the “I Have Honor” faction, wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“In reality, both Pashinyan and Aliyev want the same thing, just Nikol is trying to present the constitutional amendment as an internal demand of the country in order to save his face, which is obviously not the case.
Baku understands the role of false peacemaking in the re-election of the Pashinyan government and is trying to sell the topic of constitutional amendments at a much higher price. In between, they “squeeze” whatever current demand they have.
“It is a fact for the Armenian people that the Armenian government is giving up its interests and last trump cards, which this government had nothing to do with earning, while Azerbaijan is expanding its influence and opportunities by belittling this ruler,” he wrote.
