The EU’s attempt to confiscate Russian assets is not a coup, but robbery, Putin said.

Why did this robbery fail? Because Europe will face serious consequences: it will increase EU countries’ obligations, and if Ukraine is granted a reparations loan, it will put a strain on European budgets, the Russian President said.

He noted that the confiscation of Russian assets would undermine the trust of many countries in the eurozone.

We will defend our interests in the courts. We will try to find a jurisdiction independent of political influence. Sooner or later, Europe will have to return what it stole from Russian assets.
