SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk has become the first person in history to surpass $800 billion in net worth, reaching a record-breaking $852 billion, according to Forbes magazine.
His fortune soared after SpaceX acquired another company he owned, xAI Corporation. According to Forbes, the combined company was valued at $1.25 trillion, adding another $84 billion to Musk’s net worth.
According to Forbes, prior to the deal, Musk owned approximately 42% of SpaceX shares, valued at $336 billion ($800 billion), and 49% of xAI shares, valued at $122 billion. After the merger, his stake in the combined company is valued at 43%, or $542 billion, making SpaceX his most valuable asset. This is Musk’s second merger in less than a year. In March 2025, he merged xAI and the social network X.
According to the magazine, Musk has set four wealth records in the past four months: in October 2025, he became the first person whose net worth exceeded $500 billion, on December 15, $600 billion, and on December 19, $700 billion. He is now $578 billion ahead of Google co-founder Larry Page, who is the second-richest person in the world (worth $281 billion).
