India advises its citizens in Iran to leave the country

Indian citizens in Iran have been advised to leave the country due to possible US strikes in the coming days.
In a statement released by X, the Indian Embassy urged its citizens to leave Iran via available modes of transport, including commercial flights. The advisory applies to all persons in Iran, including students, pilgrims, businessmen, and tourists.

“This reiterates the directive of January 14, 2026, directing all Indian citizens and persons of Indian origin (PIOs) to exercise due caution, avoid areas of protests or demonstrations, liaise with the Indian Embassy in Iran, and monitor local media for updated information,” the statement read.
Indian citizens in Iran have also been advised to carry their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identity cards, and to contact the Indian Embassy for any assistance.
