By pontifical decree of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, dated March 16, 2026, the Primate of the Vayots Dzor Diocese, His Eminence Archbishop Abraham Mkrtchyan, was relieved of his duties as diocesan Primate and called to rest based on his written and oral statements.
The Mother See announces that by pontifical decree, His Eminence Bishop Makar Hakobyan, Primate of the Syunik Diocese, has been simultaneously appointed Vicar of the Vayots Dzor Diocese to fulfill the duties of diocesan Primate.
