Factions of the Artsakh National Assembly consider Nikola Pashinyan’s provocative statements regarding our compatriots forcibly displaced from Artsakh unacceptable and deserving of condemnation. The use of similar vocabulary at the level of the head of state is incompatible with the declared principles of national solidarity. Factions of Artsakh issued a statement on this occasion.
“Deliberate denigration of the people of Artsakh is not only humiliating, but also a gross distortion of reality. We are talking about thousands of people deprived of their homes under threat of existence and as a result of forced displacement. Political speculations due to their dignity are unacceptable. When a person who has assumed the responsibility of the head of the state begins to present the rights of his people as “unrealistic” or “absurd”, he is no longer engaged in politics, but is engaged in justifying his own inaction and failures.
The right to return the people of Artsakh is not subject to negotiation. This is a fundamental right that cannot be canceled at the request of any official or on the basis of political expediency.
Moreover, rhetoric trying to accuse us, the people of Artsakh, of the “unprecedented” amount of support provided by the budget of the Republic of Armenia is unacceptable. National solidarity cannot be presented as “debt” or used as a pressure tool.
We require an immediate end to the spread and dissemination of such statements, as well as refraining from rhetoric that divides society. Each point of view or statement, voiced at a high state level, inevitably entails consequences, and history bears responsibility for these consequences for a very long time.
