Israel strikes branches of Lebanese financial institution

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has attacked infrastructure associated with the Qard al-Hasan Association in Lebanon, which, according to the Israeli side, is involved in financing the radical Hezbollah movement.

The airstrikes targeted three branches of the financial organization in Beirut.

One of the strikes was carried out near the airport of the Lebanese capital.

NNA also reported that strikes were carried out in Hermel, Riyak and Baalbek in the Bekaa Valley region of eastern Lebanon, about 100 km from the Israeli border.

According to the agency, the attack targeted a commercial market in Baalbek, which is located in a building previously used by Qard al-Hasan.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz reported on the social media platform X about attacks on financial infrastructure across Lebanon, noting that the IDF had struck 15 buildings in Beirut.

The Qard Al Hassan Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit financial organization. Israel claims that Hezbollah uses the organization to pay its fighters and support civilians while avoiding sanctions.

According to officials, Qard Al Hassan has 31 branches in Lebanon, including in Beirut and the Bekaa.

The association said that since the beginning of the war, “all necessary procedures have been taken to protect deposits and valuables.”

The statement came after the Israeli army announced an attack on the financial institution’s office in Lebanon.
