US News has compiled its ranking of the world’s strongest militaries, according to which the first three places are occupied by the armed forces of Russia, the United States, and Israel, respectively.
China, South Korea, Iran, the UK, Ukraine, Germany, and Turkey are also in the top ten of the 89 countries in this ranking.
Factors such as countries’ population and gross domestic product (GDP) were taken into account when compiling this ranking.
In addition, the ranking contains a brief description of each country on this list and a brief historical tour.
Thus, in the description of Russia—which, according to this ranking, has the strongest military in the world—the following is specifically stated: “The scale of Russia is difficult to imagine. It is the world’s largest country by land mass—nearly twice as big as Canada, the world’s second-largest nation—and covers all of northern Asia and much of Eastern Europe. It shares land borders with more than a dozen countries, and shares sea borders with Japan and the United States.”
