Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Transport Vitaly Savelyev said that Russia may begin developing a supersonic passenger aircraft.
According to Savelyev, the supersonic passenger aircraft Tu-144 and Concorde were slightly ahead of their time, but the Russian aviation industry will return to the issue of creating such airliners, because they are the future, naked-science reports. In addition, flying from the central part of the country to the Far East for 8-10 hours is a long time.
Earlier, Savelyev noted that Russia cannot do without the development of supersonic civil aviation. Moreover, according to him, all the necessary developments are available to create a new supersonic passenger aircraft similar to the Tu-144 on a new technological base.
