Canada has sued US corporation Alphabet (which owns Google) over a dispute over online advertising. According to the Canadian Competition Bureau, Ottawa claims that the tech giant is abusing its position in the online advertising market.
“The Competition Bureau is suing Google for anti-competitive conduct in its online advertising technology services. Following a thorough investigation, the Bureau has filed an application with the Competition Tribunal asking it to correct [the company’s] conduct in the interests of Canadians,” the agency said in a statement. This is what the Bureau said in a statement.
Google is accused of abusing its position as the primary provider of online advertising services in Canada and preventing other market players from competing on a level playing field.
