I am participating in the Russia-Armenia forum for the second time, and the main thing is that we are meeting with a specific initiative of civil society. This was stated in a conversation on the sidelines of the forum by Vladimir Zorin, a member of the Public Chamber of Russia.
“This is very important, since now, when there is a certain crisis of diplomacy as such, it is civil society, people’s diplomacy, “soft” power that play an increasingly important role in solving the most pressing problems of our time,” he noted.
According to him, the most pressing tasks now are to strengthen peace and mutual understanding between peoples and prevent mass escalation in the world.
He explained that this forum occupies a very important place in a series of events and carries a kind of message to the world community, and not just to neighbors.
“Here are not just proposals, they are supported by specific actions of specific people. The brilliant end of the forum was the review of projects that our youth prepared with the support of the Public Chamber. Very serious events and activities are planned. I am sure that adults will definitely support this initiative,” Zorin added.
He called it important to learn to talk in new conditions and respect the position of another nation that has the right to sovereignty.
“It seems to me that a very important topic was raised today: “What do we really understand by sovereignty? What does it include and what should it be filled with?”, the member of the Public Chamber of Russia emphasized.
Zorin called the speech of the forum organizer very interesting, saying that he would show it to his colleagues as an example of true patriotism.
“I am not a supporter of economic determinism, according to which everything is determined by the economy. No, there are spiritual and moral values, there are traditions, there is history. They are no less important than economic successes, which also cannot be denied.
It is good that there are successes in the economic sphere, but still, spiritual and moral values are very important.
Our nations are wise in their historical experience, and I think that this wisdom, historical experience, will certainly win. “We can only have a strategic future together,” he concluded.
