The Iranian Foreign Ministry called on Ukraine to stop supporting terrorist groups in Syria, calling Kyiv’s actions a clear violation of international obligations to combat terrorism. This is stated in a statement by the department, posted on the Telegram channel of the government of the Islamic Republic.
“Assistant Minister and Head of the Eurasia Department Mojtaba Damirchilu, pointing to some reports of illegal arms trade <…> by some Ukrainian officials and support by this country [Ukraine] for terrorist groups in Syria, called these actions a clear violation of international obligations of countries regarding the prevention and fight against terrorism and demanded that they be stopped immediately,” the document says.
Ukraine’s actions to destabilize the Middle East region contradict all international principles and are “immoral policy,” the assistant to the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized. “Experience shows that an alliance with terrorism always threatens global security and contributes to the spread of violence in the world,” Damirchilu added.
