Explosion and fire cause partial collapse of residential building in The Hague: 4 injured

An explosion and fire broke out in an apartment building in the Dutch city of The Hague on Saturday morning, injuring at least four people, the local fire department said, Reuters reported.

“At approximately 06:15, the three-story apartment building partially collapsed and a fire broke out. Four people have now been taken to hospital,” The Hague Fire Department said in a statement.

The cause of the fire has not been reported.

Photos from the scene posted on the social network X from a nearby building showed one of the sections covering five apartments reduced to ashes and debris.

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said he was shocked by the images of the disaster and offered to help local authorities.
