The United Kingdom is suspending all program support to the Georgian government, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy said in a statement.
“The shocking scenes of violence towards protesters and journalists by the Georgian authorities are unacceptable and must stop.
These actions denigrate Georgia’s international standing and go against Georgia’s constitutional commitment to a European future.
In light of current events, the UK will immediately suspend all programmatic support to the Georgian government, limit defense cooperation and restrict engagement with representatives of the Georgian Dream government until this departure from European democratic norms and freedoms is halted.
The UK will continue to support the people of Georgia in their right to choose the future of their country,” Lammy’s statement said.
