The European Union (EU) may consider creating an army of drones if member states request it. The European Commissioner for Defense and Space, Andrius Kubilius, stated this in an interview for the RND editorial association.
The EU needs to work closely with NATO, as the decision about the need for an army of drones should be made by NATO. But there are many EU countries believe that drones are very important. And if the member states ask for it, the proposal will be considered, Kubilius said.
The European Commissioner for Defense and Space noted that drones are capable of changing the entire course of military operations.
Therefore, when the EU military says there is an urgent need to increase the production of modern drones and electronic warfare equipment, it must be done, concluded Andrius Kubilius.
