US President-elect Donald Trump said that Washington needs to control Greenland.
“I am pleased to announce that I have selected Ken Howery to be the United States Ambassador to Denmark. In the interests of national security and freedom throughout the world, the United States believes that ownership and control of Greenland is absolutely essential. Ken will do a wonderful job representing the interests of the United States,” he wrote on his page on the Truth Social social network.
During Trump’s first term as president, American media reported that he was interested in the possibility of acquiring Greenland, which is a territory within Denmark and has broad autonomy rights. The authorities of the kingdom refused to discuss the sale of Greenland at the time.
