From the announcement of the New Year’s TV program of the Public Television Company of Armenia, it became known that the broadcast of the New Year’s message of the Catholicos of All Armenians will take place at 21:55 on December 31. This is stated in the message distributed by the press office of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
The message, in particular, says:
“We consider it necessary to note that there was no discussion between the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the PTA regarding the broadcast of the message. The television company continues to bypass the long-standing tradition of broadcasting the New Year’s message of the Catholicos of All Armenians, ignoring the position of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, as well as the demands and expectations of the believers of the Armenian Church living in Armenia and the Diaspora.
In the conditions of the working style adopted by this television company, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin does not consider it appropriate to broadcast the message of the Catholicos of All Armenians on the air of the PTA. The address of the Catholicos of All Armenians will be broadcast on New Year’s Eve on the air of the media available to us – at the hours established according to tradition.” Let us recall that according to tradition, the message of the Catholicos is broadcast immediately before midnight on December 31.
