Trump Allows Possibility of Meeting with Iranian President

The head of the US administration, Donald Trump, has allowed for the possibility of a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. He made the corresponding statement on Tuesday during a conversation with journalists at the White House.

Having signed an executive order to restore maximum US pressure on Iran, Trump expressed hope that he “will not have to use it too often.” When asked whether he was ready to consider the possibility of a meeting or direct contacts with the Iranian president, Trump answered in the affirmative.

“We’ll see if we can negotiate or make a deal with Iran,” the American leader noted. In response to a clarifying question regarding the details of a possible deal, Trump emphasized that “Iran cannot be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.” “We don’t want to take a hard line on Iran or anyone else, but they cannot have nuclear weapons,” the US president said.

Trump was also asked what consequences Iran might face in the event of an assassination attempt on him or members of his team. “If they do, they will be destroyed, that will be the end. I left instructions, and if they do this, they will be destroyed, nothing will remain,” the American leader said.
