"Rosatom" is ready to involve international producers, including European Union and Asian countries, in the possible construction of a new power unit in Armenia. Alexey Likhachev, the general director of the state corporation, said this in a conversation with Armenian journalists. According to his presentation, "Rosatom" proposes to implement the future project as an international joint project with the participation of various suppliers. "We are ready to consider this as an international integrated project with the involvement of global suppliers," Likhachev noted. He emphasized that the company already has such experience and implements projects where the technologies and products of different countries are used. As an example, Likhachev mentioned the Kazakhstan project, where the new VVER-1200 type power unit is planned to be built in the format of an international consortium with the participation of French, South Korean and Chinese companies. So far, it is not specified which companies can participate in the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Armenia. According to the explanation of the head of "Rosatom", everything will depend on the wishes of the Armenian side, the customer, the government and the specialists conducting technical negotiations. Likhachov stressed that the choice of technology, supplier and project implementation model is exclusively for Armenia to decide. Earlier, he announced that "Rosatom" has forwarded to Armenia the proposal to build a power unit with a capacity of at least 1 GW and VVER-1000 technology.
