The United States and Ukraine are close to concluding an agreement that will give Washington a share of Kyiv’s natural resource revenues, but will not guarantee Ukraine’s security. This was reported by The New York Times.
According to the newspaper, the new version of the agreement, which was discussed on Monday, contains more favorable conditions for Ukraine compared to previous drafts, but does not include the security guarantees requested by Kiev. Citing White House officials, the newspaper points out that “this economic agreement with Ukraine will not be a guarantee of future assistance” in the conflict with Russia. According to the newspaper, Volodymyr Zelensky may come to the United States to sign the document “this week or next.”
