India’s Defence Ministry says Pakistan violates ceasefire again

The Indian Army has once again observed Pakistan violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control in the Kashmir Valley, the 11th in a row, a defence ministry spokesman said on Monday.

“On the intervening night of 4th and 5th May 2025, Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajauri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani and Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

The Indian Army spokesman added that the Indian forces responded to the firing “promptly and proportionately.” There were no reports of casualties or injuries.

India shares a 3,323-kilometre border with Pakistan, comprising an international boundary of about 2,400 kilometres from Gujarat to Akhnoor in Jammu, a 740-kilometre Line of Control from Jammu to Leh and a 110-kilometre Line of Actual Ground Position in the Siachen region.
