Russia and the US have made a preliminary decision to move consultations on eliminating “irritants” in bilateral diplomatic relations from Istanbul to their capitals, with a new round of talks to take place “in the very near future, in Moscow,” said Russia’s new ambassador to the US, Alexander Darchiev, TASS reports.
“I have already said that there is still a long way to go to restore Russian-American relations, and the process itself is proceeding with difficulty and is being slowed down not only by opponents of the White House, represented by the ‘deep state,’ but also by ‘hawks’ in Congress, where a stable anti-Russian lobby has formed.
It is important, however, that there is progress, albeit quite reversible, and it is measured by such a tangible result as the preliminary decision made during the last round of consultations in Istanbul on April 10 of this year to transfer them to [their] capitals. I can confirm that the next negotiations of the [two] delegations will take place in Moscow in the very near future,” Darchiev added.
