Former Japanese Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama has died at the age of 102, Kyodo news agency reported.
Murayama served as prime minister from June 1994 to January 1996, leading a coalition government formed by three parties: the Socialist Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, and the small Sakigake New Party.
Murayama is best known for his 1995 statement in which he formally apologized to all Asian countries that suffered from Japanese colonialism and aggression.
