The Communist Party will attempt to “sell” the August 8 document in the 2026 elections, bluffing that “we brought peace” in exchange for votes. Artak Zakaryan

Today, in the National Assembly, Nikol reportedly commented on the goals of the new concept of the RA Armed Forces, formulating it as the idea of ”replacing the concept of a ‘combat army’ with the concept of a ‘defensive army.'” In other words, he wanted to reiterate that the RA Armed Forces will not conduct military operations outside their own territory. Artak Zakaryan, a member of the RPA Supreme Council and former Deputy Minister of Defense, wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“As far as the ‘supreme commander-in-chief,’ who suffered defeat, surrendered territories, and closed the Artsakh page, knows, I consider it necessary to note that any country in the world must, first and foremost, have a combat-ready army in order to be able to defend itself. In other words, the Armed Forces of the defending country must be capable of solving combat missions and tasks, which is a decisive element of troop combat readiness and the most important condition for achieving victory.

Defending one’s own territory, the security, dignity, and sovereignty of the Armenian people (Armenians) is also a victory, which requires combat readiness. This was one of the main principles of Serzh Sargsyan’s government. And the victories that Nikol Pashinyan’s government dreams of achieving are the losses and defeats of the Armenian people.

As for a state’s defense capability, it implies the level of a given country’s preparedness for external aggression. This is determined by the combat readiness of the army, as well as the logistical, economic, human resources, and the moral and psychological state of society that a given country is capable of mobilizing to achieve its goals.

A state’s defense capability also depends on its foreign and domestic policies, territorial characteristics, the state of civil defense, the structure of the economy, relations with allied states, the level of technological and cybersecurity, information security, etc.

In the current situation, due to the destructive policies of Nikol and the Communist Party, the combat missions facing the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia have become increasingly complex. It is essential to seriously address the issues of increasing their combat effectiveness, developing their capabilities and skills, organizing preventive and effective defense using military-technical means in a narrow geographic area, and maintaining anti-terrorist readiness.

We will soon consider what policy should be pursued in this direction after the change of power.

Only through a defensible state, a developing economy, a combat-ready army, a harmonious society guided by national values, and a balanced foreign policy can we ensure the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and genuine peace of our country.

“In the snap elections of June 20, in exchange for votes, under the false slogan ‘We stopped the war,’ the Communist Party ‘sold’ the November 9 statement to the Armenian people. In the elections of June 7, 2026, again in exchange for votes, under the bluff ‘We brought peace,’ they will try to ‘sell’ the August 8 statement, the details of which are as murky as they are dangerous in terms of regional developments and the security situation in our country,” he wrote.
