The German Ambassador to Georgia again participated in an opposition rally.

German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer, who returned to Tbilisi several days ago after being recalled, again participated in an anti-government rally in the Georgian capital, thereby violating the principle of non-interference in the country’s internal political affairs. This was stated to journalists by Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, according to TASS.

Earlier, civil activist Mamuka Tsutskiridze posted a photo on Facebook of herself and the German Ambassador at the rally on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi. She stated that the German diplomat expressed solidarity with the protesters.

On October 19, Fischer was recalled for consultations due to the Georgian side’s position. As the German Foreign Ministry stated at the time, the Georgian leadership was conducting propaganda against the EU, Germany, and the German Ambassador personally, leading to the decision to recall him. On November 6, the German Foreign Ministry announced the Ambassador’s return to his post in Tbilisi.

As a reminder, in October, the Georgian Prime Minister cancelled a previously scheduled meeting with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Estonian Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen due to her participation in anti-government protests in Tbilisi.
