Strikes on Iranian and Israeli nuclear facilities could lead to “total catastrophe,” UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said during a UN Human Rights Council meeting on Tehran’s strikes in the Persian Gulf.

“Recent missile strikes near nuclear facilities in both Israel and Iran highlight the enormous risk of further escalation. States are ‘toying’ with a real catastrophe,” Türk said in a video statement.
The latest Iranian missile strike targeted the city of Dimona, located approximately 9 kilometers from Israel’s nuclear research center. Meanwhile, the United States and Israel have repeatedly struck the Bushehr region.
