Newsweek: Europe Is Silently Preparing for World War III

Many European countries are silently preparing for World War III in light of the imaginary security threat attributed to Russia. This is reported by Newsweek magazine.

According to its estimates, European NATO countries have already begun laying the foundation for defense, attributing to Russia the threat of an attack on the alliance’s territory. The magazine points out that the bloc is trying to prepare for both a possible total war and other scenarios for the development of a possible conflict. It is noted that Europe’s preparation for war with the Russian Federation is reflected in the fight to increase defense spending in individual countries.

As part of this preparation, as Newsweek writes, the Baltic countries of the alliance are actively strengthening their land border with the Russian Federation and equipping bomb shelters. The Scandinavian countries, in turn, are distributing brochures with plans for mass evacuation. Germany, the magazine recalls, has begun developing plans to protect important buildings and structures in Berlin in the event of an attack, and has also signaled its readiness to act as a transit point for hundreds of thousands of troops ready to head to Eastern Europe.

On October 3, the then future European Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius told Bloomberg that the EU should increase its military potential in case of a confrontation with Russia, which he believes is possible in six to eight years.
