Alexander Lukashenko has pardoned 29 people convicted in Belarus under “extremist-related” articles. This was reported by the state news agency Belta.
The report says that 11 women and 18 men have been pardoned, including six people under 25, three pensioners, two people with disabilities, and 15 have chronic diseases.
It is claimed that all of them “repented of their actions and applied for pardon.”
The names of the pardoned political prisoners, as before, are not disclosed.
This is the sixth time since the summer of 2024 that political prisoners have been released in Belarus. On August 16, Lukashenko signed a decree pardoning 30 people, on September 4 – another 30 people, on September 16 – another 37 people, on November 7 – another 31 people, on November 20 – another 32 people. In all cases, Lukashenko’s press service did not name those released. Later, their names were found out by independent publications and human rights activists.
