Turkmenistan pardons 276 convicts in honor of International Neutrality Day

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov pardoned 276 convicts in honor of International Neutrality Day, which is celebrated on December 12. He announced this during an extended meeting of the country’s Cabinet of Ministers, the official newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan reports.

As Berdimuhamedov noted, traditionally, citizens convicted of crimes committed but regretting their actions and sincerely repenting of them are pardoned. He recalled that such actions are carried out regularly.

Law enforcement agencies have been ordered to take all necessary measures to ensure that pardoned citizens are released and return home to their families in the near future.

Pardon actions in Turkmenistan are held several times a year in honor of national holidays and significant dates. The last such action was held in September in honor of the country’s Independence Day, when the president pardoned 736 people.
