The police of the Republic of Korea have begun a search of the office of President Yoon Seok-yeol. This was reported by the Yonhap news agency.
We are talking about a special investigation team created to investigate the events of martial law. In addition, the police are conducting searches at the headquarters of the National Police Agency, the building of the Metropolitan Police and the office of the police guard of the National Assembly.
According to the agency, President Yoon Seok-yeol himself was not present during the search of his office. For the first time in the history of the Republic of Korea, the head of state was banned from leaving the country in a case of attempted rebellion with the aim of overthrowing the constitutional order. South Korean law allows for the criminal prosecution of the current president on charges of treason and rebellion.
