The main investigation department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia completed the preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on the fact of the purchase of particularly large-scale drugs and their transfer to a person held in a correctional institution.
During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, clear factual data were obtained that the lawyer, who is the defender of the person detained in the correctional institution, on the instructions of the latter, illegally purchased drugs for him and handed them over to him during a visit to the correctional institution, met with a relative of the detainee on January 10, 2026 and illegally purchased from him a batch of drugs packed in a pack of cigarettes.
Then the lawyer, hiding a pack of cigarettes with narcotics in his work bag, visited the correctional institution, but could not hand it over, as the institution’s employees discovered and seized narcotics of various types and sizes during a personal search.
Против В.А. and D.M. a criminal case was initiated under article 393, part 3, point 2 of the Criminal Code (illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their preparations or their equivalents (analogues) or their derivatives with the purpose of sale or illegal sale), and against the detained person – under article 44-396, part 3 (attempted illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their preparations or their equivalents (analogues) or their derivatives) or precursors).
The arrest was made as a preventive measure against V.A. and D.M.
The criminal case was transferred to the court with an indictment.
