A mass will be held in the Yerevan-Kentron penitentiary system on the occasion of the Vardavar holiday, which will also be attended by Archbishops Mikael Ajapakhian and Bagrat Galstanian, who are held there. This was reported to Sputnik Armenia by Archbishop Mikael Ajapakhian’s lawyer Ara Zohrabyan.
“We sent written statements to the penitentiary system, and we were allowed to hold the service this Sunday. The liturgy will be conducted by a clergyman of the institution, and, naturally, the archbishops will be present,” the lawyer said.
The lawyer added that the institution’s employees are attentive to Mikael Ajapakhian, he has no complaints or claims, and his health is also satisfactory.
“The archbishop is busy reading spiritual literature. He asked for several books, which were given to him,” Zohrabyan said.
According to him, at the moment they do not plan to file new lawsuits against officials, although they discussed this issue with Ajapayan.
Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan’s lawyer Arsen Harutyunyan also reported that the clergy continue to be held in the same cell. His Holiness Bagrat also does not complain about the conditions of detention and the attitude of the penitentiary staff.
“The archbishop is strong and cheerful in spirit. He reads a lot, reads spiritual literature, studies French and Persian. He treats everything that is happening with humor, realizing that all these false, fabricated political persecutions will remain in the past, and justice will prevail,” Harutyunyan said.
The lawyer noted that, as in previous days, today he will also visit Archbishop Bagrat, especially since today marks the 30th anniversary of his ordination.
