Dallas police are investigating after a Southwest Airlines plane was hit by a bullet as it prepared to take off from Dallas Love Field in Texas on Friday evening, CNN reports.
According to Southwest Airlines, the bullet apparently struck the right side of the plane just below the cockpit as the plane was taxiing for takeoff from Dallas to Indianapolis around 10 p.m. local time.
There were no reports of injuries, and the plane returned safely to the gate, where passengers disembarked, authorities said.
“Southwest Airlines will accommodate our customers on another flight,” the airline said. “Law enforcement has been notified and the aircraft has been removed from service.”
It is unclear where the gunfire came from or whether the plane was the intended target. No arrests had been announced as of early Saturday.
The Dallas Police Department told CNN that officers arriving at the scene found the plane had been struck by a bullet from a shooting and an investigation is underway.
