After the August processes in the US, the Azerbaijani government has not changed its policy towards Armenia even a little. Arman Tatoyan

The dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group not only contradicts the state interests of Armenia, but also fundamentally violates the foundations of the OSCE’s activities. Former Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan wrote about this.

“It contradicts the international system of human rights protection, legitimizing the resolution of issues by force and aggression, and making the idea of peace illusory and leaving it on paper in general. And the Armenian government participated in that adventure in order to turn the word “peace” into a false “trump card” for the sake of hopes of maintaining power.

In fact, after the August processes in the US, the Azerbaijani government has not changed its policy towards Armenia even a little.

First, the Azerbaijani president has already put forward the demand for amending the RA constitution several times, presenting it as a serious obstacle to a “peace treaty”.

Just two days ago, the head of the “Western Azerbaijan” community, who is also a deputy of the Azerbaijani National Assembly, stated: “Today, the idea of returning to Western Azerbaijan is a national idea in Azerbaijan. The return of Western Azerbaijani refugees to their native places, in the territory of present-day Armenia, is an important condition and guarantee of trust and stability between the two countries and peoples.” By the way, the registration of people, as I mentioned yesterday, began several years ago.

When I say that the Azerbaijani authorities are distributing so-called ID cards to the “future” residents of “Western Azerbaijan,” it is also a reality, since this organization is controlled by the Azerbaijani presidential administration and, naturally, it is a unit operating under the patronage of the government.

After the initialing of the August documents, the Azerbaijani president announced that he would increase military power. At the same time, Azerbaijan is seriously monitoring that Armenia does not suddenly start any new cooperation or develop in the defense sector.

“These facts are by no means exhaustive, but they clearly show the gravest dangers to the sovereignty and statehood of the Republic of Armenia, and also make it clear that it is impossible to talk about real peace under these conditions. Only the RA government and the government propaganda speak about this unilaterally, in order to preserve the power of the Communist Party,” Tatoyan wrote.
