Al Jazeera: Israeli attacks threaten truce in southern Lebanon

Continued Israeli attacks threaten the ceasefire in southern Lebanon, according to Qatari television channel Al Jazeera.

According to him, the Israeli army and units of the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah exchanged blows. As a result of heavy Israeli attacks, at least 11 people were killed, which threatened the ceasefire that came into effect last week, the channel reports.

Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces Herzi Halevy on December 2 during a meeting held at the headquarters of the Northern Command of the Israeli army said that the military “will decisively respond to the gross violation of the ceasefire by the Hezbollah movement.”

On November 26, Israel and Hezbollah announced a ceasefire on the Lebanese-Israeli border. The peace agreement provides for the restoration of control by Lebanese forces over their territory within 60 days, after which the Israeli army will gradually withdraw from Lebanese territory, and civilians from both sides will soon be able to safely return to their communities and begin to rebuild them.
